Over the last 10 years I have spoken at great many conferences and meetings ranging from 2500 people to groups of 5. Most of my work has been with corporate groups but I am also fortunate to get invited to speak at a number of schools. About 20% of the conferences I speak at are outside the UK and I am used to working with multi-national groups and with simultaneous translation.
I am often asked to speak about the question ‘Will It Make The Boat Go Faster?’ – the killer question and mind-set that enabled the Men’s Rowing 8+ to win an Olympic Gold medal in 2000. My presentation is a simple story about how a group of individuals came together to form a team. A team which had to undergo a huge amount of change in order to form a very strong culture that enabled them to constantly challenge and learn, deal with setbacks quickly and work together despite significant differences.
